Daabon makes sustainable oil for many of the products that Australians use every day. Our purpose is to transform the vegetable oil industry with business and farming practices that put people and the environment first.
From the farmers who grow the crops to the people who use our products, we believe that everyone our business touches should be the better for it.
We believe that what we make and how we make it should protect and improve the environment, actively doing good instead of simply not doing harm.
When farmed ethically and sustainably, vegetable oils are high-yield agricultural products that improve people’s lives in hundreds of ways.
Daabon produces certified sustainable, fair trade and organic palm oil for use in a wide range of consumer products, including energy bars, snacks, chips and shampoo.
Because we’re vertically integrated from soil to market, we own the entire supply chain for our palm products, which means we can guarantee our customers and their consumers a top-quality, responsible product that is fully transparent and can be traced to its source.
“We believe that environmental destruction can only be reversed if businesses step up and lead the way. Historically, corporations have done the most damage to the earth, while profiting the most from her resources. This kind of injustice can't go on. Which is why Daabon is out in front of the movement to clean up the palm oil industry.” Our goal is not just to stop damaging the environment, but to actively improve the health of our native ecosystems and the planet as a whole.
From the farmers who plant and tend the palm, to the mill workers and technicians who extract and refine the oil, to the consumers who buy products made with our palm oil, Daabon is committed to improving the lives of everyone who interacts with our company and the products we make. Daabon is a family company, founded on principles of solidarity and responsibility, and we’re proud of our reputation for treating people with respect, in both the local community and the global marketplace.
"Sustainability is a journey and we are constantly working towards improving and proving that #goodpalmoil is possible."
Manuel Julian Davila, Daabon Group CEO
Because transparency and accountability are more than just catchphrases to us, Daabon’s operations are certified and rated by independent third-party organizations. Here are a few of the most important ones.
Certified Sustainable Palm Oil is a designation awarded by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an organization formed by stakeholders from across the palm oil industry to promote and support sustainable production methods. RSPO certification requires that no primary forests or high conservation value areas (places of cultural or environmental significance) can be cleared. It also restricts the use of pesticides and fires, and addresses labor rights for workers.
RSPO NEXT picks up where the standard RSPO sustainable palm certifications leave off, ensuring that additional responsible farming practices are in place—most notably no deforestation, no burning and full traceability at the farm level. RSPO NEXT verifies that, at the corporate level, companies are truly utilising a sustainable production model throughout their supply chain.
The Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit (SPOTT) is an online platform that rates palm oil companies on key measures of sustainability and transparency. Its goal is to drive implementation of environmental and social best practices for the sustainable production and trade of palm oil. Daabon was ranked number one in the world in five out of six consecutive years.
Daabon is a founding member of the the Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG). This is a multi-stakeholder initiative that strives to achieve the adoption of responsible palm oil production practices by key players in the supply chain, through developing and sharing a credible and verifiable benchmark that builds upon the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), and creating and promoting innovations.
